Program Assistant – Peace Monitoring for the Nepal Monitor Project with Collective Campaign for Peace (COCAP) in Kathmandu (for COCAP Volunteers only)
The Nepal Monitor Project has been conducting a pilot project to establish a Peace Monitoring System in Nepal supported by The Asia Foundation. The Project incorporates district-level newspaper reporting into its database. For the continuation of the project, the COCAP | Nepal Monitor Project is looking for a Program Assistant. This position is open to COCAP volunteers only.
Work:
Supporting NepalMonitor.org Field Coordinator, in receiving and filing newspaper hard copies sent from district. Assisting Field Coordinator in keeping records and follow-up with COCAP District Focal Persons.
* Receive and file newspaper hard copies received from districts.
* Keep record of newspaper and courier received.
* Assist field coordinator in organizing logistics for Peace Monitoring Project
* Support field coordinator in follow-up with District Focal Person by phone
* Assist Program Officers in uploading reports as needed
* Assist Training and Outreach Coordinator in organizing workshops
* Assist per need in any other activities
Note:
This is an internal vacancy, recruitment is open to COCAP volunteers only.
Requirement
* Candidate must have at least +2/ intermediate pass or equivalent
* Candidate must be interested in peace-building, human rights work
* Candidate must be capable of managing logistics
* Candidate must have basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
* Candidate must be motivated and detail-oriented
* Candidate should able to type Nepali (preeti or Unicode) and manage basic translations into English.
* Candidate must have citizenship of Nepal
* andidate are a COCAP volunteer
Period of service:
One-year with possibility of extension, starting as soon as possible in March 2017 with 3-months-probation period.

An interesting and innovative mission – implementing and further developing new mechanisms for peace and violence monitoring and analysis, in conjunction with a well-respected international non-governmental organization.
Remuneration will be 17,000 NRs per month with additional yearly increments and bonuses (if the position is extended).
